Wow - pretty! I wonder how much MX is required with those contra rotating props? Cool plane!

A pretty esoteric plane for North America.
Really belongs in the UK where it would be better appreciated.

I don't think any are flying in the UK (did they lose factory support leading to their grounding like the Shackletons?).

Wendovertom:
Agree with the props concern.
a few years back, made the comment here that the US. never fielded a contra-rotating prop aircraft, but was corrected with a claim that the troublesome Convair Tradewinds were operational for two years and not just test ships.

It was at OSH in 2014. I have not seen evidence of it being out and about since then. It has always drawn a crowd since being imported by Amjet back in 1995.

There was one being restored to fly in the UK, but IIRC they were looking for a specific tool for the prop but weren't having any luck.

There were rumours that XT752 was going to come over to the UK a few years back for a tour.

Thanks for sharing those clips Dan. Neat to see the start up and unfolding, and for the love of God, can airshow commentators please shut up for a moment when an aircraft with a distinct sound makes a flyby! I want to hear the aircraft. Pretty please......

Fascinating airplane. IT seems to be a four seater if you look closely at the video I believe there is someone sitting aft in the third cockpit. IT's awesome that a person could shut down one engine in flight to save fuel and extend range. Not a bad way to go from airshow to airshow. Hopefully it will go to a country that used them and will be much more appreciated than in the U.S.

It made it as far as Greenland and got a ride home in an AN-124

https://www.historynet.com/fairey-gannet-revival.htm

"In New Richmond, Wis., aviation enthusiast Shannan Hendricks is refurbishing an unusual dual-control Gannet T.5 trainer—one of only eight built—that last flew on the U.S. airshow circuit in the late 1990s. In 2004 XT-752 started a ferry flight back to the UK but made it only as far as Goose Bay, Labrador, due to mechanical problems.

Last October that Gannet finally found a home in Wisconsin and was air-freighted to its new owner aboard a Antonov An-124. It’s expected to fly on its own sometime in 2012 (you can keep up with its progress at faireygannetxt752.com)"
