I remember seeing this bird the first time in FL.

I am always curious when I read of the restorations of Axis aircraft recovered as wrecks many years after the war: how much of this is original to the aircraft, or to the type? Expressed as a percentage, or as a rough tally of the parts that remain in the restoration.

Any informed guesses?

I think Vintage still has the BMW and they were running it and making a few adjustments. They were rebuilding and calibrating the fuel injection pump recently.

12 years ago when I was working at Warbird Adventures the crew working for Mark Timken were making all new parts. There are very few original parts in this one. The wing skins and extrusions were custom made, along with the rivets. Wing Ribs were being fabricated about the time I moved on...then it transferred to Collings. Mark amassed a huge collection of original parts and memorabilia over the years, many of the parts and sub assemblies were used as patterns. but the airframe is "new".

I guess this was the same airframe at Tom Reilly's in 2002. They sure worked their magic on it.

White 1 was one of the Fw-190s that was assembled originally by the Texas Air Museum. I believe they were more mock-up than rebuild.
