B-24 photo question

Sun Oct 16, 2022 12:33 pm

A relative showed me this photo today and I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on it. The B-24 has a (to me) strange nose configuration. Unfortunately we only know that her father worked in maintenance in the UK during the war, at one time at RAF Wittering, nothing more. Any hints are welcome.

I think it's a conversion for the "Carpetbagger" program that supported the Resistance in Occupied Europe.

Glazed nose was for better night observation, IIRC.
