This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I was doing some background information on this bird and came up with different information than you did. Can you help me to figure out which is right?

F-5B-1-LO 'Camera Shy' Serial # 42-67561
Camera Shy served with both the 25th and 26th PRS, and was transferred into the former on 28th July 1944.
Thanks for any help.

I happen to speak a little bit of Dutch.
NNG = Netherlands (Dutch) New Guinea.
Translation of the text in the photo:
Biak, June 4th 1946 until may 28th 1947. At the American dump. A graveyard of war heroes and gone glory.

Does anyone know the LIFE, LOOK, or Saturday Evening POST magazine from the 1946-48 time frame that had a two page photo spread of the Biak dump grounds shot from the air? I recall A-20s,B-24s, P-38s, P-47s, P-61s, and more.
A binder with that year's magazines used to be on the shelf at my high school library where Study Hall was held. It was right next to the table I always "studied" at. I daydreamed many times over that article when I guess I should have been studying something more profitable!

I belive that the pic you are thinking about was in a mid 50`s issue of National Geographic. I remember going through old issues when I was in study hall way back when!
