Does anybody know the photographer Mark Munzel?

One of his pictures won honorable mention in the people category of the EAA Warbirds of America 2004 Photo contest and I would like to see about obtaining a copy of it for my "I love me" wall.

When did Bob Pond have the Spad? The only times I saw it around was when it was with Amjet.

Brad,

Send me an e-mail and I can send you Mark's e-mail address. He lives on the West Coast of Canada.

Brad:

Oh no, what have I done?

Seriously, I haven't received that issue of EAA Warbirds yet, and I submitted several shots. Can you describe the photo?

You weren't the guy lounging on the Spad, were you?

Mark,

I'm nearly ashamed to say that it was me kicked back on the Skyraider. That's the picture I was talking about. I'd love to buy a copy from you if you are willing to sell me one.

You also got honorable mention for a picture of Crash Williams' TBM running with the wings folded. It looks like it might have been taken at Arlington, Bellingham or Victoria, but I really can't tell.

dj51d, here's a brief history of the Skyraider:

Pulled out of China Lake, rebuilt by Fighter Rebuilders for Bob Pond, went to MN.

Traded along with a DC-3 to Lone Star Museum for the B-17 that Mr. Pond now owns. Spent some time in Galveston.

Sold to Wally Fisk, went to Amjet, back up in MN.

Sold to Brian Reynolds in WA, now in the Olympic Flight Museum.

Brad,

Thanks for the info, I always wondered about the registration, now I know. Here's a shot from my pre-digital days, 1996 in Osceola, WI.

Aaaaargh! That color brings back nauseating memories... I refuse to comment further, other than to say that many of Bob's aircraft from that era are colorifically challenged.
