The BBQ. (Guaranteed SwampGhost Free! (tm))

My weekend last week started a little early. The bombers flew into Moffett on thursday, so a couple of us went over to take a look. Had a great time and there was a bunch of Stearmans there too. Friday, I got home from work and got to see them flying over my cr@ppy apartment all afternoon. I love this time of year. Then came saturday....
I've met Chuck Wentworth a couple of times, but last year, at Salinas He told me, told us, about the BBQ. He invited Dan. I glommed on. Waiting, Waiting, Waiting.....It seemed like many months, and finaly, I asked Dan about the BBQ, and if I could still go. I could and we did.
We went over in 242J and when we were almost there we saw two mustangs going in in formation. We got there and did a great break, I looked down and saw Chucks ramp and it was packed. We got parked. They were flying WW1 airplanes, running Miss Virginia, and more planes were coming. I met some old friends. There were two F18's parked near the hangar and POF had some aircraft there too.
I saw Steve Hinton and went over to introduce myself and he introduced me to Dan Martin. I must of seemed like an idiot. I was pretty much awestruck. They were very cool. I hung around and followed them around while they were talking about the P51A and mustangs in general. I figure Dan Martin has forgotten more about mustangs than almost anyone is going to know in a lifetime or two. When I finally caught myself being being some kinda of stalker, I forced myself to walk away. Steve had told me to go see Mark about looking over the SBD, so I went over and he let me go into the cockpit and check the plane out. I always loved that plane, even more now.
Thanks Dan Dugan, Chuck Wentworth and everyone at Antique Aero and the POF guys. That was the best Warbird day of my life. The BBQ was great!

O.P., you don't know how much that reminds me of Breckenridge during its heyday. By Saturday morning, you would have 8-13 P-51's, 6-8 Corsairs, 8 B-25's, maybe a B-17, or P-38, or P-63 to throw in the mix. Plus on Sat evening they served up some of the best 1" thick pork loin steaks at the private cookout/BBQ. Alan

Yea but at Breckenridge all we had was airplanes and the occasional half-track,jeeps, etc. Don't remember any of those antique motor sickles. Lots of nice pictures
