New Spitfire on US Register

Tue Jul 20, 2004 2:06 am

:D
Last Friday July 16th, the Supermarine Corp finally registered Spitfire IX N367MH in their name; it has a hybrid c/n "CBAF5487" and carries s/n MH367. I think this aircraft was rebuilt using many different frames. Has anyone got a photo of it yet, and knows where it may be located?

Peter--

Thanx for the vector...first pix I have ever seen of the neo-MH367. In 2001, this one was rumoured to be coming to Canada courtesy Carey Moore (who of course died in a Sea Fury crash that summer). Carey was keenly awaiting its arrival. I wonder how far along it actually was in '01?

Incidentally, Al Mickeloff (ex-CWHer) emailed me a photo a while back showing then-CWH engineer Steve Martin with part of one of the gear legs from CAF Spit MK297 shortly after the Feb/93 fire. Would email it to you (you had asked about that a long while back), but for two hitches: the file is huge and I haven't found a way to attach it successfully to an email; and perhaps even more to the point, I haven't got an address for you anyway! I'll keep Al's email with the pic on file though.

Cheers

S.
