Avro Anson...Texas

I was in Denton recently and saw a wing box in a hanger. I was told it was from an Avro Anson...and that the rest of it is at another airport in North Texas.

USAAF Avro Anson aka Federal AT-20

The Avro Anson entered production in Canada as the Anson MkII in 1941 and 1,832 were built. Several companies shared the Canadian production and as a result 50 of the type went to the USAAF as the Federal AT-20. It was used to train aircrew for bomber roles. It used Jacobs L-6BM engines instead of the English Cheetahs.
Generally speaking there are plenty of Ansons here in Australia and Canada. Not sure how many are flying world wide, perhaps two???
Depending on your perspective from an historical approach, the Federal AT-20 could be considered a rare example of the Avro Anson and may have a significant following in the Warbird Trainer category.

Hello all,
This is indeed an Anson Mk 19 belonging to my Dad. We rescued her from the origonal Texas Air Museum in the late '90's. the rest of the plane is in Gainsville Texas where my dad is based and has his DC-3 operation. On a side note if you are up there, you will now find "Fat Annie", the only remaining operational Carvair ATL-98 that has joined the collection of Convairs and DC-3s to try to make a living hauling freight!The Anson actually is reasonably siginificant in that it was one of the last 6 that performed the formation flyby over London when the type was retired. this plane came to the US in the 70's and was found derelict by TAM late '80's. It is completely origonal with all seats and interior etc, and cheetah engines. To our knowledge there are no other Ansons flying or otherwise in the US. BTW Brian, did not find this till i had responded you!.
