Emerson Electric Mfg Turret Division

Sat Jul 01, 2006 10:10 pm

Our museum has acquired 275+ 55 gal drums of misc. parts from the Emerson Turret Division here in St. Louis. I've been working on this deal for over a year and made many trips to this salvage yard in an attempt to ID the parts. I was expecting mostly Emerson A-15 B-24 nose turret parts but I'm finding more Sperry upper, Sperry ball, and Martin 250CE-5 parts than anything else. I'm also seeing some Aero turret parts and on Friday I found some TBM/F Avenger turret parts. Anyone know exactly how many complete turret models Emerson built under license? How many models did they just build parts for?

A few of you WIXers have known about this deal for a while and have been a big help in finding manuals and information. I appreciate that you did not "spill the beans" until we could get the deal done. I will not forget about your help! The scrap buyer from China lost the deal, Hooray! Thanks,

Thank you for saving those parts. I would enjoy seeing pictures if you take any.

Rich,
To be honest, thanks really go to the salvage yard's owner who passed away last year, for saving the stuff in the first place. Also some thanks are due the current employees who decided to call some aviation people as well as some other scrap dealers. I'll try to get a website up in less than a month with lots of photos, we will need help trying to ID these parts so they can find a new home. Send me a PM with your email and I'll send you some photos.
Thanks,
Albert Stix Jr.
