The TF is mentioned in the last issue of Warbirds Digest, in an article by Randy Haskin entitled "Peace Ponies." Good comment on the "history" of the bird, and its current ID. Not to steal the info provided in the article, or the soon to be released book (can't wait to buy mine), but this is according to the article actually 44-73260, and is on the US civil resigistry as 44-84658.

Here is a picture of it when it flew with the 113th Fighter Squadron of the Indiana ANG.My father recieved more than a few rides in the back seat when he crewed our units Mustangs.
The color of the paint on 44-84658 was insignia red,our other F-51's flew in this paint scheme in red or a emrald green,or even sometimes a mixture of both.44-84658's current scheme is close to what it wore when it flew with us but as far as I know it never flew with the Texas ANG.
And a few more pics of the units Mustangs.

I'll caveat this by saying saying that I (and some other notable Mustang researchers/historians) *believe* the War Eagles TF to be 44-73260 by knowing the history of the two TF-51s that Cavalier sent to Indonesia in Peace Pony I AND by viewing photos of the fuselage that was eventually restored into the War Eagles TF.

In addition to the restored Tupolev Tu-2, bomber, I believe they had several other Tu-2 airframes, some being for sale several years ago. Does anyone remember how many and what was the sale price?
