HAWKER HUNTER CRASH AT HILLSBORO AIRSHOW

About 40 minutes ago a Hawker Hunter crashed into a restidental neighborhood destroying 3 houses during the Hillsboro, OR airshow.
The news is reporting that the jet took off during the show lost power and crashed 1 mile east of the field. No word on injuries but no report of the pilot ejecting. I have no idea has to the ID of the plane or pilot. It was said to be silver/blue with foreign marking. The show has obiously been canceled. Think good thoughts.

It's a Blue Hunter. From L.A. Calif. Pilot is/was a lawyer. I can't recall his name right now. sad deal.

The a/c was N58MX and named "Blue Max II". The pilot did not eject and was killed. Evidently the 3 homes were unoccupied at the time. The Hunter reportidly flamed out at 1000' and had no where to go but down.

According to KATU 2 TV in Portland, the pilot was Bob Guildford!

The Hunter does not have a good safety record in the US and I am particularly sad that it has cost Bob his life, as he and I corresponded several times. Was his ejection seat live, or was this a choice to try and get it clear of the houses?

I extend my condolences to Bob, his family, and his friends at this time of great loss.
I urge everyone to respect his memory by keeping preassumptions about the cause of the crash to themselves at this time while the NTSB and investigators look into what happened. As we all know, there are always many contributing factors that may not be apparent on first report.
We have always been very good about circumstances like this on WIX, and I only mention it as a reminder. We all are impacted by events like this and emotions can run high.

ARRRGGGHHH!! Bob was an awesome guy, he flew at the Wendover show last year, came to the Wendover Jet blast this year and I have never worked with or met such a truely nice, accomodating and HAPPY gentleman. This is truely sad.
