This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Jack, Did Major Roger by chance fly Mustangs after P-38's and carry over his nose art from the P-51?
It would make a good one.

I also really hate it when the main frame dies at work and all I have to do is surf.
Nice shots thanks for posting them!

Sorry but the 367th Fg transitioned to P-47Ds towards the end of the war in Europe. The 367th had some of the best artwork i've even seen!

aircraft nose art made a revival during desert storm / shield, mostly female nudity oriented. but due to uncle sam most of it was deemed risque / inappropriate with women now in in the ranks & on the govt. pay roll. no offense ladies... can't say i blame them now, as i wouldn't want to see male weinees on a warbird as much as they hate seeing boobies!!!

political correctness even hits the military!!!

"Empty Saddle" the aircraft still exists and is being rebuilt to fly in Victoria, Australia. Cockpit side skin still has seven kill flags!
I think it is a shame that with all the great noseart that the 49th Fighter Group had on their P40's, that too many owners these days can't see past "Curtiss product, must have sharks mouth!" There is no imagination.
