Chicagoland Airport T-28?

T-28 PROJECT • $80,000 • FOR SALE • Modified with Wright 1820 Big Engine, and an aft stair door on right side. Rear cockpit removed for extended range fuel tank. Aircraft has been in storage for 25 years. Log books are missing. $80,000 or best offer.

Is this the T-28 that used to be at Chicagoland Airport? The 25 year timeframe sounds plausible.

That's the one - N8087H looks pretty much like the last time I saw it at Chicagoland in the late '70s except it was missing the prop and lower cowlings then. Wonder where it's been hiding all these years?

Whatever happened to it, they must have road-towed it out.

I don't remember those parts missing. I do remember that one of the prop blades was almost in the dirt. I don't remember the airstair either, but then again I spent more time looking/climbing on the Hellcat. Too bad that wasn't sitting in a hangar waiting for me to discover it!

Hi All!

This is from a friend of a friend of a friend,

I saw this plane last week. It is a couple of miles from my home. It
was modified for aerial photography and it does have a passenger access
door on the left side of the fuselage that allows an individual to get
into the fuselage for taking photographs. The co-pilot seat is gone and
a fuel tank is in its place covered with plywood. It is intact but
there are holes in the fuselage for cameras. There are a set of outer
wing panels that I wanted to buy until the owner told me what he wanted
for them. The plane itself is $80,000.00. The owner was telling me that
he was thinking about pushing oil thru the engine and trying to start
it. I told him that he would ruin the engine if he did that and he
laughed. I believe this model to be a Fennec. It is a converted A
model. It has not flown or been run for some 30 years."
