Collings Foundation Stop, Sept 27-29

Wed Sep 27, 2006 10:08 pm

Drove out to see the Collings Foundation Fly into Pittsfield Mass today. It was a good time. Talk to several people with interesting stories; one WW2 Vet who made it to combat just in time for the Battle of the Bulge. Then I hung out for a while and was able to say Hello to JimH.

Went back to catch a few takeoff and lands at the airport and do a tour of the B-17. Looks like the B-24 is going to be getting a new engine. :? I stuck around a while and watched the work progress on getting the old engine off. I don't think I could have guessed just how much work is involved in an engine change.

Hey Tim, great seeing you. We are still working on #4, the new engine arrived this morning via Fed Ex. We are leaving in the 17 this afternoon for Montgomery NY...hopefully the 24 will catch up late Saturday or early Sunday. I also posted some pictures on webshots of the change.

Starting to look like the weather is starting to give you somewhat of a brake! I hope you weren't out in the rain last night  I kind of wish I made the trip back out last night, the weather cleared and looked like some nice photos to be had. Oh well, the lawn got cut, boxes burnt and a few other things around the house down.

The invite always stands Jim, no matter where I maybe living in a year, Maine or Tennessee

And only a little flak this morning when I got back to work, but that is another story, I put in for my time off and it’s not my problem they refuse to hire people to cover work... But I digress
