Real or Replica?

Wed Aug 04, 2004 1:37 pm

Is this a real Mustang or a replica? ...

http://myaviation.net/?pid=00160556

MyAviation.net indicates: One of three old warbirds outside the 94th Aero Squadron restaurant at PWK, Chicago - Palwaukee (PWK)
USA - Illinois, July 22, 2004.

Mike if that is outside of the 94th Aero Squadron restaurant then it is a Tallichet replica.

Pay close attention to the canopy fit line and the general tail area and none looks really sound and sturdy like a real Mustang would.

Tallichet has several of these restaurants with replicas out front. The LAX establishment has a '109, P-51, Corsair, P-47, and several others. The P-38 on the pole at Lackland AFB in San Antonio is the same way as well as the B-24 at Lackland. They are quite impressive replicas and I"m really glad they do it because it keeps the real ones out of the elements. Now if only the MacGuire P-38 could be replaced with some plastic.

Yes they are all fiberglass!
If I remember right there is a P-51 and a P-47 sitting on the other side of the walkway, out back there was a P-38
Although not real airplanes they still look better than the C-47s @ Dave's Dover and Nashville Locations
There are a couple out in front of the Palm Beach Int. location also

While we are on the subject,
Does anybody know the status of the Orlando and St. Louis rests?
last time we stopped in the Orlando spot it was closed (During NBAA)
and the last time i was passing through St. Louis it looked closed

as a side note...those replicas used to be about 6ft higher...they have been steadily sinking the last few years.
