B-29 At The Nat'l Atomic Museum

Sun Oct 15, 2006 10:31 am

Some scans (poor -I need to get the hang of scanning!) of some pictures I took at the Nat'l Atomic Museum in Oct 2003 of the B-29. The Museum was closed and the plane was behind a fence. It's overall condition was pretty bad i.e. painted over windows and grey paint on EVERYTHING. The birds were having a "field day" with the plane as well...

Nice photos. I wonder if this B-29 is fairly complete inside.

I currently don't have images of this aircraft in the registry

Mind if I snag a couple?

This looks like another WW2 era plane that needs to be brought inside.

The most recent time I was in Burque, NM, I went looking for the Atomic Museum.

I was told that it has been moved, and the older location has been closed. I could not see the B-29 nor anything else.

If the museum is still open (North-East side of the AFB) would someone please provide with up to date information?

Thank you.

Tulio

No it has moved to the old town area. From their website:

The National Atomic Museum is located at 1905 Mountain Road NW, Albuquerque New Mexico 87104. We are 2 blocks east of Rio Grande Boulevard and just north of Old Town, Albuquerque.

The last time I was there, the B-29 wasn't there yet.

Interesting I wonder where it is now.

I went last year by the Mountain Road location, and no B-29.... Just out of curiosity, I then went to the Los Alamos museum, thinking . . . what if... but no cigar.

Interesting!!!
