P-51 Walkaround Pics

Mon Oct 23, 2006 9:49 am

I have been working on a P-51 cardmodel kit and had the opportunity to take some photos of a P-51 in Uvalde, TX a while back. Here are some of the detail shots for modelers. Was very grateful to get the pictures. At the end of the album is a picture of the model I've been working on.

Hi Ryan,

Nice to see you. Haven't seen you on us-aircraft.com for a while. Maybe its a good thing as we have had SPAM problem bad. I am the board moderator now for the site. Anyway, we had some good times on that site. Mike is going to see about a new forum soon.

Keep in touch my friend,

Amazing that you got into the hangar without my wife beating you up. Very few people are allowed in the hangar. Not that we don't allow pictures, but that customer aircraft are in there also and that is our contract with them.

Not beatin on you, but chuckling that you made it in past her! I do see one of our linepersons as an escort.

The Mustang is now called Glamorous Glen III.

HaHa! That's great! I did call ahead first and talked to at least two of the folks there, explained my purpose for the pictures and asked if it would be possible to come out. I'm from San Antonio, and had check the FAA registry to find the closest P-51s to me. The one here in San Antonio is WAAY hard to get to, and the folks basically have it locked up and it can't be touched, so your P-51 was the next best possibility. I flew out there in a Cessna 172 with a friend and my sister, and your line guy was great, and friendly. Thanks!
