Ugly Birds

Thu Nov 02, 2006 6:05 pm

Because of the undertone that has developed in my last thread, I thought I would make it formal.............

What do you consider to be the UGLIEST warbird?

I think it will be a toss up as weather the British or the French get the highest number of nominations. Feel free to defend any aircraft you feel has unjustly maligned.

And for the first nomination I would like to submit the Potez 75

Look here if you dare................

WIXers: I humbly offer you the Amiot 143.

Imagine riding this bad boy into combat in 1940...dispensing death to the Hun while entertaining guests in the downstairs, four-seasons room!

And just so you don't think I'm picking on the Frogs, my silver cup goes to the Fairey Barracuda.

Fairey Gannet. No question about it. Tell me this isn't a face only a mother could love.

And I guess it does qualify as a warbird since it first flew in 1947 (as far as I can tell)

Is this catagory limited or is it open to all, observation ,Fighter, Bomber? Why not a survey for each catagory?

Tricky, I think I will leave it as it is but people are welcome to put in multiple nominations with notes such as " I think this is the uglyist bomber/obs/fighter/etc that has ever seen the light of day and the designer should have been shot blah blah etc etc"

Early running tally.

British - 5
French - 2
USA - 2
Italian - 1
German - 1

I think thats because the Brits are all sleeping at the moment and not around to defend their honour (lets hope the Flypast board doesn't get a whiff of this as there will be pipes and slippers everywhere. :union: )
