TBM Stuff....

Sun Nov 12, 2006 2:06 am

Just surfing for TBM parts and came across this site, with one of the Isreali TBM's that is being restored.... Looks like a good job, taking a bit of time......but asking way too much money... unless its not US dollars...... here is the link, scroll down the page a bit for the restoration pics...... Is this Bn 88506?.

Also the Florida Wing of the CAF now has TBM Bn 85597, N-704QZ now in its Deland, Florida hanger and is beginning its restoration process. Pictures can be found here:

Couple of questions for all, or better yet.... Start a list of all active TBM restorations.....One list for flyers, one for static. One for stored a/c. OK, so I'll start. If they have not flown in over three years and were once regular flyers, they count as static.... MacQuire, Evergreen, Eriksen...
Rest to Fly
1. CAF Bn 85597
2. CAF Bn 91426
3. Charlie Cartledge Bn 91436

Thanks for posting the pics, Al. I've been trying to find photos for the TBMs wing spar, ribs and bulkheads & frames. Have you got any of those laying around?

Also, thanks for including the links to the restoration sites. I hadn't seen those before.

Thanks again,

Mac

Hey DZ, whats up! Question for you... I can't remember..... is the LS TBM a straight COD, or was she a conversion from a turreted -3? Maybe now that Larry is driving the boat, he'll get her driven to paint strip shop. Those training colors were done beautifully, but ....... Alan

Nice work Al. We have to add Mike Rawson to the list.I am not sure about Ed Forsberg,I thought that his TBM was sold at auction in 1999 in Arizona.I looked at it before i bought mine but he had a crazy price on it for what was there. The Hornet museum has one TBM on the ship that needs bomb doors and one other one sitting in storage. If anyone has more accurate info feel free to correct me.Also if Scott could get a picture of my TBM on the registration sight that would be great. Thanks, Charlie Cartledge

Ed Forsburg was here for years and had a hanger at the airport full of stuff inc a Wigeon hulk. I believe the TBM hull is or was at Sweet Home They had a auction at the FBO there which inc it about 5-6 years ago. Reserve was out of sight and of course it didn't sell. I've never seen the a/c but if it's like the wigeon .....yikes!

Here's a couple shots from Ingemar Holm's collection in Anoka, MN from 1981 - can anyone ID the TBM behind his Kate?

And here's the man hisself, Earl Reinert, with one of the TBM wings he kept stored at Ingemar's hangar (where are they now?):

Chris, thanks for the pics. Most interesting indeed, one of the first really good pics of Earl that I have seen. Got an email to update a few items... the Quonset TBM is to be static... I thought Larry and crew would put that baby back in the air. The NEAM TBM is still in storage, but may be coming out soon. Possible pics coming in a few weeks of Harlands' bird. Alan
