Lone Star Flight Museums Fly Day - Pictures from an amateur!

Thu Nov 16, 2006 6:28 pm

Okay, so these aren't the best pictures, I've seen lots better on here, but this was the first "real" airshow I've been to. I had such a fantastic time that I figured I should put up a few of the pictures, no matter how amateur they are. I visited a museum (LSFM) that blew my mind with its collection of aircraft, and met the wonderful people that make that place what it is. So for your viewing pleasure:

This F4U Corsair tied with the B-17 as my favorite plane there, I love this one!

The B-17 Thunderbird - more amazing in person than I could have imagined.

Anyhow, completely incredible! I can hear Texas' blue skies calling me as I sit here at my desk in rainy ol' Washington! :D

Thats a Sino Swearingen SJ-30 Very Light Jet prototype. It came over from San Antonio. It has two props, they each have 18 blades and spin at 8000 rpm. At least they are round engines.

That looks like a dangerous position for the orange shirt in the second Corsair photo.

Beautiful pics!

Might I ask, does ANYONE yet have a pic of the Lone Star Hurricane (restored here in CO) in it's new colors? Or has it even been painted yet?

Just curious...

I didn't know the Bearcat was in Angels colors!

I like it.

Re; 2nd Corsair Pic, Also there is a guy standing (leaning on wing?) behind the right wing. You can see his leg behind the landing gear

Great pictures Steff..enjoyed meeting and working with you at the flyday.
Chuck, I think the warbird without a prop is a Sino Swearingen SJ30....very, very nice. The Hawker Hurricane is in the paint shop and will be for awhile....Tom

Yes, The Bearcat is the one for sale that is listed on the Courtesy aviation site/ While it lived at the museum it actually belongs to Robert Waltrip, who was instrumental in creating the museum.
