Guys this is my first post ...what a great WEB SITE!

This is one big thank you to any of you whose fathers/relatives served in the PACIFIC particularly Milne Bay Papua New Guinea 1942.

I was told when I was ten years old ."Son the only reason you were born is because of an aircraft called Kittyhawk and P38 Lightning and some very brave American Pilots who got my tushy out of that place is was in"

At that age I did not know what he meant but by the time I was 12 I knew all about it. Glad I found a web site such as this to say thanks.
This web site link will give an insight to what happened on 5SEP1942

http://www.awm.gov.au/atwar/remembering ... /index.htm

After this battle the U.S. forces came running to help.

My father was a signaller with the AUSTRALIAN 2/25 Btn ground force attached to 75SQN Australian Air Force.
He was there on the night in 1942 when the Japanese tried to take MILNE BAY.
THANKS
