Were the Corsairs used in the excellent movie Flags of our fathers actual real aircraft? I realise some scenes would be CGI, like the in-cockpit shots showuing pilot's eye views, but were any real ones used too? Or were they all computer generated. The scenes with them were awesome on the big screen.

I believe they shot some Corsair stuff with the Planes of Fame Corsair and another on the West Coast. Not sure where, but they may have been used in the flypast of the liberty ship. It looked real enough!
By the way, in the mass shot of all the liberty ships heading to Iwo, did anyone notice that the real ship they used was riding very high in the water? The screws were turning foam and you could see the lower half of the hull. If that was really heading to Iwo, it would've been riding a lot lower in the water with a heavy load.
