Is this Wright R-3350 Cylinder from a B-29 or Constellation?

Hi, I have in my collection a Wright Cyclone R-3350 cylinder ( for pictures see the link below ... ). Is this cylinder for the B-29 or perhaps this type cylinder for the Lockheed Constellation ??. The following numbers are on the cylinder :......138668 M.......T T 4......H 3210...... 148939 A......and a circle with the number : W 578.......VPOY.....W1 .
What is the right cylinder - name for this type ?.

Has this cylinder a " name " .... ?, can you show me a picture from a cylinder of a B-29 ?. Is it perhaps a cylinder of a Lockheed Constellation ?.

That's a "TT-4" cylinder. Could be off of many makes of airplanes, but the Skyraider used them on the R-3350-26WA or -26WD.

I think that one of the below Wright engines belongs to my cylinder ...... but which engine ..... ?????

Hi Eric,

I received this cylinder from a guy here in Europe whos told me that this cylinder belongs to a Lockheed L-1049G Super Constellation. I have search on Google for a detail engine-picture ( Lockheed L-1049G Super Constellation engine ) but I can not find a picture with a cylinder of this Conny.

Question : can somebody help me with a picture ( internet-link ) of a cylinder from the Lockheed L-1049G Super Constellation ?.......

And here's a picture of the Skyraider engine (R-3350-26WD) that we just put on the Sea Fury a little over a month ago. Ignore the idiot under the engine, I couldn't figure out how to crop him out. But it's the best view of the cylinders I had a picture of....


As you can see, the cylinders are quite similar, if not the same. Now, I'm still getting a lesson on 3350's, thanks to the B-29 re-engine project (and someone with more knowledge please step in and correct me here if I'm wrong), but the way I understand it, the TT3's and TT4's are very much the same cylinder with perhaps only some minor cooling fin differences. The TT5's were the last version of 3350 cylinder that Wright built and is often considered their best cylinder they built. You will find a TT4 cylinder like yours on many different dash numbers of the 3350, which means that you'll find it on even more different types of aircraft. Sure, it could have been from a Super Connie, but it could have come from Eric's Skyraider too........So I'm sure he'd like for you to send it back to him now.
