Ok, I was looking through the book
Corsair Aces by Walter A. Musciano and in the back it lists Corsair variants. It mentions that the FG-1E was radar equipped and the FG-3 had a turbosupercharged engine. I had never heard of these before. Can anyone tell me more about these two versions? Thanks!!

I think that links has some problems ID'ing F4U-4s.

Not that that means the specs are incorrect.

Off the top of my head these may have been test a/c or proposed a/c if Goodyear would have built them.
Had they been built, the F4U-2 (radar) = FG-1E, Vought XF4U-3 (turbosupercharger) = FG-3, Vought F4U-4 = FG-4.
Goodyear never put either the FG-1E or FG-3 in production. Not sure if they had tooled up for FG-4 production or not. Maybe a few on production lines, but none accepted.

Mike
