This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Hey folks= check out the new issue of Warbird International(No Guts, No Glory on the cover) Gary Austin wrote a great article about the CAF Sea Fury and his experiences getting checked out in it as well as taking care of her recent engine change
For those of us that aren't lucky enough to get to fly the big iron these articles are great ways to get a slight feel for what it is like in them.
Not sure where you found the time write it Gary - but I assume you are finally doing something productive with all of those hours between Midnight and 3 am that you have been wasting on sleep all of these years.
Keep up the good work and THANKS'

I appreciate the comments, Steve. That article was originally written for the Fly-Low Magazine, and later included in one of the CAF Dispatch magazines. Don't recall discussing having them print the article on my checkout in the Fury in Warbirds International (I knew about the engine installation blurb though), but it's good publicity for the CAF and their new Sea Fury I reckon.
I hope everyone enjoys it.

Thanks Tim- your right I was thinking Warbird International and it came out as Warbird Digest.
So Gary- I hope you at least got some payment from them for the article. That would only seem fair since it is a feature article.

So if I have my facts correct.......
Respected warbirdpilot/mechanic with a cool cat writes a very nice article for a publication.
Later a another publication reprints it without permission from the author and doesn't pay him for his work.
This is one of the reason I refuse to read the other magazine(s).

i've always gotten paid for my articles published by challenge publications, maybe not always quickly, but paid none the less.

Payment hasn't been discussed. The article was printed without me knowing about it......which I'm still a bit confused about. But I'm sure we'll work it out, so no biggie.

The fact that magazine X printed a article from another magazine says volumes

Gary,
I am puzzled here. Not only do you have the time to do all of theWarbird work you do...Diamond Lil, FiFi, and the more recent Skyraider and Thunderbolt work. But you have graced us with all of the magnificent updates on your work on Lil...and yet you have found time to write a very good aritcle. So I guess my confusion is a simple one. And the question I would love to ask is, when do you SLEEP or at least find time to rest and recreate ? Or are you impervious to have that pesky need that the rest of us lesser humans need ?
Cheers,
Paul

I don't sleep. I wish I could and I try to, but it just doesn't work out very well. As far as recreation, I don't do much of that either. I'm not very fun to be around....unless you like workin' on cool old airplanes, that is.
