This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Ain't that the truth. WHen I started out, whenI was on final I noticed that my right leg stiffened up and I tried to use body english to make the plane do what I wanted.

Naturally THAT failed. So once I noticed that I was stiffening up, I'd remind myself to relax by adding an R to may already modified GUMP check:

GUMPFCR - Pronounce it and you'll see how easy it was to remember it :)

Gas
Undercarriage
Mixture
Prop

Flaps
Carbo heat
RELAX

I use this on all planes whether or not there's a constant speed prop or carb heat or flaps. If they don't exist, or are fixed, I simply say "set".

Once I relaxed, my landings got much better
