I completed my updates to the Virginia Locator. You can find it here…
http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Locator.php?Region=VA

Since Stephanie will be visiting the area this summer I thought the Virginia locals and regular visitors could see if there is anything that should be added or if there are any blanks that could be filled in. Go the extra mile for another WIXer!

Mike

As usual here is the list of “Need Help” items…
#1: Apparently there is a F-14 displayed someplace in Bellwood. Can you confirm? If so where exactly is it?

#2: Apparently there is a F-14 displayed in Dahlgen. Can you confirm? If so where exactly is it?

#3: There may be a F-86 being restored near the Front Royal airport. Can you confirm? If so where exactly is it?

#4: Apparently the Virginia War Museum has a H-52 in the collection. Can you confirm?

#5: Apparently there is a F-84 displayed in Richmond. If so where exactly is it?

#6: Apparently there is a F-4 displayed at Quantico MCAS. If so where exactly is it?

#7: Are there any airframes displayed at NASA Wallops Flight Facility near Pocomoke City? If so where?

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

Here's the Front Royal F-86. This is exactly what the 86thFINCEPTRON was flying when I was a boy in this here now USAF at Kirtland AFB circa '56-'59. Memories...
As you can see, this one used to belong to WVANG. (Martinsburg)

That's that airport ops building in the background.

That's Santa Claus sitting in the cockpit.

Looks kinda' like the front end of a whale shark.

Airframe looks to be in pretty good shape. Externally, at least.

Not really worth the effort to get there.

Mudge the disappointed :(

I'll take another look for this one.

If I were in the area I would make the effort to visit if possible. Any airframe, any condition is worth it in my opinion. Can you give me hints to the exact location? Street name, an intersection or even coordinates?

Thanks gents!

Mike

The airport is actually 3 miles W of the town.
38º55’02”N
78º15’14”W
The F-86 is parked right in front of the "terminal". (And I use that description loosely.) Your house is bigger than the "terminal".

Mudge the researcher
