One Six Right on TV Tonight

Mon Dec 25, 2006 9:18 pm

Hi all- Just tuned in to Discovery High Def Channel on my digital cable and saw the tail end of One Six Right. Not to fear- it will be on again tonight from 11 to 12:30 (Eastern Time) and back to back from 3 am to 5:30 am.

I haven't seen it before so I was really amazed by the last few minutes that I caught- can't wait to see it in its entirety when it comes on later this evening.

I bought a few copies of it at Oshkosh last year. It is really great.

Rats! I'd need to spend $9.99 extra a month and buy an HD compatible TV to watch it...

What is it about?

It is a well done documentary about aviation at Van Nuys Airport in southern California. It covers the history of that airport, interviews and flies with some of the (oftentimes colorful and/or famous) tenants, and discusses issues of encroachment on general aviation airports. The photography and music score are both first rate.

The film abounds with the best Pitts, P-51, A-26, Cub and antique aircraft footage you may ever see filmed from a helicopter in HD.
