Gang, This year the Reading WW2 Weekend will be reenacting "Operation Candy Drop" from the Berlin Airlift.
Retired USAF Col Gail Halvorsen (the guy who created it) will be flying in the Museum's C-54 & throwing candy parachutes out of the plane. Sounds interesting. Here's more info:

Also, I'll be buzzing the crowd in one of the B-17's & droping a few of My fully loaded Footlockers & Frozen Turkeys out of the bomb bay:

Should be a hit, much like the infamous WKRP in Cincinnati "Operation Turkey Drop" incident:

... Digger

This should be a neat addition. On a personal note, Col Halvorsen is one of the nicest people on the face of the planet.

And, just to clarify....

The C-54, called "Spirit of Freedom", is not owned by "the museum". It is owned by the Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation of NJ.

Please do come out and visit us, if not only to meet Gail, but to visit our aircraft as well.

See you all at RDG.
