I completed my updates to the South Carolina section of the Locator. You can find it here…
http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Locator.php?Region=SC

I stand a decent chance of visiting the area in the next few years, so I am looking forward to any contributions any of you may have.

Mike

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

Good morning,
I do know that there is a T-33 at Darlington County Jetport, identifier UDG. There is also a F-4 at Woodward Field in Camden, S.C. identifier CDN. Both are on the airport properties.

Already have that one, but thanks anyway.

Is there a F-100 at Shaw?

Thanks everyone. Updates in tonight’s upload.

Mike,

There is no F-100 at Shaw AFB in Sumter.

The F-100 at Myrtle Beach may have been at Shaw at one time, since there is a painted sign on the belly of the F-100 that says it was painted by some folks at Shaw in 1998.

The public comments for Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, TX, indicate say "There was a F-100 displayed, but it was transferred to Shaw AFB, SC, in 2003." Is it possible it just hasn't been placed on display yet?

Mike

Here is the latest version of the "Need Help" list...

#1: There may be a B-25 displayed at the Anderson County Airport. Can you confirm? If so where exactly is it?

#2: Apparently there is a F-105 displayed in the county of Anderson. Can you confirm? If so were exactly it it?

#5: There may be a T-37 displayed at an American Legion in Gaffney. If so where exactly is it?

#6: There may be a T-33 displayed in Hartsville. If so where exactly is it?

#7: Is there a F-100 displayed at Shaw AFB near Sumter?

The T-33 is at the Hartsville airport as of 1995. HVS.

The F-100 may have been the responsibility of Shaw AFB. But never actually
displayed there. For instance, most of the aircraft that were displayed at the Florence Air Museum were under the auspices of Shaw.

#1 - No B-25 visible at the Anderson County Airport on GE

#5 - No American Legion found in Gaffney, although posts 109 and 201 are listed in the state directory

So we have a “missing” F-100? Any ideas where this one may be?

I am going to remove this one from the Locator. If one was on static display at one time it must have been years ago. I can’t imagine anyone displaying a B-25 out in the elements these days.

Maybe a VFW or another veterans organization. I’ll leave it in the Locator, but remove the Legion reference.

Thanks gents! The updates and mods will be in tonight’s upload.

Again, taken from 'USA Military Out of Service' Edition 4:

#2: Apparently there is a F-105 displayed in the county of Anderson. Can you confirm? If so were exactly it it?
>> I know of only one F-105 in South Carolina, and that is the one displayed at Poinsett Range close to Shaw AFB.

#5: There may be a T-37 displayed at an American Legion in Gaffney. If so where exactly is it?
>> There are two aircraft preserved at the VFW Museum on South Logan St. From the I-95, head South for 3.7 miles on SR 18.
66-0764 Bell UH-1H ex MT NG. Allocated by the Army on 20Sep96, this had arrived by Apr00 and was still present in Sep06.
54-2733 Cessna GT-37B. Arrived by Dec94, still present Sep06.

#7: Is there a F-100 displayed at Shaw AFB near Sumter?
>> I think Goodfellow got their bases mixed up. Their F-100A, 53-1573, went to Seymour Johnson, where it is displayed outside Wing HQ as '41814' (noted Aug04-May05).

Regards,
Andy Marden

Thanks for solving the mysteries of these sites Andy. I'll make the changes to the file this weekend. They will likely appear in the Locator Monday night.
