BBMF 50th anniversary, Duxford 5th May

Sat May 05, 2007 12:50 pm

Pictures from the morning session of the BBMF’s 50th Anniversary bash at Duxford 5th May 2007…..

The original four aircraft did a few formation passes then went into a tail chase…

The oldest serving fighter then made a couple of passes with one of the RAF’s latest fighters

The rest of the images were taken of the static display and a few ground movements,

That's a different look for a Chipmunk. I like it! Is it an original scheme?

Gary, the Chipmunk scheme is original and I believe unique to the BBMF.

I love the "Emergency Fred Flintstone Landing Gear" on the Chipmunk!
Never seen that actually extended from a Chipmunk before!
Thanks for posting the Photos!
They're super!

Cool pics, Len, thanks!

The Chipmunk scheme is based on the high-visibility black applied to all RAF training aircraft. The white stripes appear to be unique...

Here's my off the topic question...

What was the single largest Spitfire mass formation flight ever to take place? of course aside from actually during the war. I mean at an airshow or a demo.

This has been on the Flypast forum in the fairly recent past. I think it was high 'teens.

I'll see if I can find it.

Found it http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=66695

It's basically 16, but the BBMF were there and airborne at the same time with a further 5 in a separate formation.

Thanks Dhfan!

Never saw that pic before! Maybe one year at Duxford they'll try and break that number! A Thunder over Duxford!

Like thats not the case already!
