I recall the legendary Mexican singer and actor Pedro Infante owned the B-24 XB-KUN in which he was killed in a crash April 15, 1957. He also crashed a Cessna Bamboo Bomber a few years earlier, but I don't know if it was ex-military. Howard Hughes' B-25 and A-20 would qualify, as well as the WWI birds he bought for "Hell's Angels". And heiress Doris Duke had the short-lived B-25J 45-8824 N75150.

Dave Gilmour (P-51), Tom Cruise (P-51), I think John Travolta owned a warbird before he switched to airliners ?

Dave

Doh ! Just realized this thread is basically the same as the 'Actors' thread...minus Gilmour of course

The L-10A that I used to crew and co-pilot on was at one time owned by Margret O'Brien. It's warbird connection is that it was one of the most used transports by the British High Command. The flight records read like a Who's Who of the High Command. If you remember the old films of Chamberlin exiting an aircraft and proclaiming "Peace in Our Time", then you have seen the aircraft.

Additionally, prior to it's delivery, it was held at the factory as the back-up ship for Earhart prior to it's delivery.

Actor Jimmie Stewart owned P51-C, named "Thunderbird" which was
flown to win 1949 Bendix in-class by Joe DeBona. Stewart and DeBona

Although not a warbird, they both co-owned the 3rd "Spirit of St. Louis"
replica.
