Boy, I really hate to hear that. I am just waiting for you know who, to tell me why I can't have all the external wing stores on my Skyraider. As far as violating the crowd line, I know of no excuse for that. It's the quickest way to shut down the air shows as we currently know them. No good for anyone.

Hmm yes and I thought the F-15's last pass Saturday was pretty close to the crowd line also.

I wasn't at Chino so did not see the incident with the Skyraider. Normal is 3 crowd lines, or deadlines or safey lines; 500' 1000' and 1500' away from and parallel to the crowd, and marked by something like the runway edge or a line of barrels. Jets at 1500', piston acro at 1000', and piston fly bys at 500'. New this year is a FAA extension of the end of the line an extra 500' long which you have to remember if doing a photo pass. You can cross inside over the crowd if above 1000', but it is not a good idea especially if you have tanks or somthing external that could endanger the crowd. Sometimes FAA can be picking at details without much logic, such as a debate over whether acro is a 60 or 70 degree bank. But the deadline has a sound purpose, and most pilots respect it, and will corect a friend if he goes over. I have seen military jets insde the line and over the crowd, I think they are outside FAA control, or get diiferent rules.
