Beat me to it, Old Shep. I emailed Bob Moore of the Show Me crew and this was his reply:

"Yes, that was Show-me at the Spirit of St Louis Airshow about 4 or 5 years ago. They were on final and got too close to the prop wash off a B-17. Thankfully our pilots did some fast manuevering and recovered without any damage. This photo and a video of it has been floating around the internet ever since. In fact, i believe the CAF or FAA uses it to warn about wake turbulance and following too close. Don't remember if i told you but we have our own website now it's: www.cafmo.org.

When i posted the picture I didn't know the story behind it other than they got out of it ok. I suspected it was wake turbluence because I was in a similar attitude once in a C-152 doing touch and go's and I got to close to an Air Guard C-130 also in the pattern doing touch and go's. My left wing was completely perpendicular to the ground at about 100ft. If I'd gone all the way over that would have been that. Glad to know the story behind it. I got it off the Aerovintage site since it was not copyrighted (I think).

You said a mouthful on that photo !! Looks like the L/H wingtip is about 3 ft off the pavement. Glad they were able to right the ship as it were and put her back on the ground without incident.
