That history belongs to the serial number. I've both heard and read from different sources that the paperwork was added to the airframe. If this is the one that originally was a much modified racer with the Lear Jet tail or wings.

BTW we met Gen. Olds at a airshow we attended a couple of years ago with the B-25. He climbed into the cockpit for some hanger flying. He said he had about 200 hours in 25s then gave us a 'C' note for the bomber fund to buy our silence (oops!).

Yes, Scat VII was once "Vendetta", John Dilley's air racer with the Lear wing and horizontal stab. It was that way one year ('88, I think), then converted back to Mustang wings.

Well, first of all I think it is pretty safe to say that the planes that went to Cavalier were swallowed up in their programme to refurbish airframes. It is a well known fact that serials and airframes were tossed around while in their ownership without regard to the individual history. Secondly, the TF fuselage that Dilley fixed up as N93TF was a scratch built, brand new fuselage. I remember it arrived from Art Teeters facility to Pioneer Aero Service at Chino where they fitted it internally before sending it to Ft. Wayne for completion. So sorry. Not much "Scat VII" in N93TF! I think you will find that this is quite usual when it comes to TF conversions today! I remember another P-51D "converted to TF standard" which meant that a new TF fuselage was built in a jig. Next to it sat the original fuselage which was then later sold for a stock D project!
