Some have had some issues getting there.
I just got the engine out of Bald Eagle and into the shipping can this evening.
Metal might appeal to some as music but in the oil its a bad deal.
Hopefully Sparrow will get it repaired in a manner of weeks.
Thats why we only sent Princess.

Quite, but it's good to hear about. It's not 'just' egos in flight suits, but lots of guys who help with the tricky stuff, like the flight suit zips, and a Merlin making metal... ;)

The aim was 100 Mustangs, and that was (IIRC) a re-shoot from 51 Mustangs, but let's not forget we are dealing with privately owned and operated ex-military machinery.

You couldn't gather 75 front line warbirds of any other type, if you think about it, except perhaps 'Warbugs'. Not that I'm saying Mustangs are 'common' or anything... :D

The real killer I think was the fact that the fuel sponser fell through at the last minute. I think that prompted several owners, especially West Coasters, to stay home unfortunately. I think 75-80 still surpasses the 1999 gathering. It is extremely cool to see them all there in the photos. Another interesting fact; the first gathering had no razorbacks, while this one has 4. Wish I was there...

Thank you for the pictures. I would have loved to have been there, almost made the 14 hour drive from North Bay Ontario, but determined it wasn't a good idea for a student to spend all that money on gas and a hotel and drive for a total of 28 hours return trip in one weekend. I hope that some day they have another gathering, I would be there no questions asked.

I have to ask one question... how do you put the copyright mark on the pictures? Is there a simple way to do it or do you have to go into some fancy photo editing program to do it?

Mr Shreeve...thank you for the 5th picture you posted in this thread of Lil Margaret! While I am one of the few not so enamored with the P-51, I will admit that that is one of the best pictures I think I have ever seen of a Mustang...the "dark clouds of war" in the background really set it off quite nicely! Thank you for posting that picture...now, where are the Spitfires :spit2
