With all the Christmas buzz going around I had a sudden vision for a warbird inspired Christmas painting.

A twilight scene with A B-17 called Santa's Sleigh being escorted by 8 P-51 Mustangs, each named for a reindeer, and one Red-nosed P-51 named Rudolph in the lead.

Silly idea but I thought it was fun.

You have just ruined Steve's Christmas break! You just know he will want to do it!

Of couse the lead P-51 as you suggest should be named Rudolph, and should have a paint scheme that has a red spinner.

Also perhaps they could be shepharding a lame ship home.

You know this will bug Steve until he has it painted.

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

Hi Scott (et al)--

Thanx for the suggestion. As it happens I have three paintings to do during the break...will see about squeezing in a fourth!

Actually for a long time I've mulled over doing a painting that could be made into Christmas cards. The idea I had (and may yet attempt) was a logical one for a Canadian to have: a CF Hornet (or maybe a Voodoo), doing a night intercept over the Arctic...of a most unusual eight-ungulate-powered "bogey"! :D

I like your idea too. It plays to my enjoyment of inventing Warbird names and nose art and the like. (Albeit the names, in this case, are already preselected!). I'll keep you posted: if I do the Fort/Mustang piece, maybe I could "donate" the image as a WIX Christmas card...

Cheers (and, of course, Merry Christmas all!)

S.
