Warbird Information Exchange

Has anyone out there seen this plane first hand? It is listed on courtesy aircraft for $90K but they say "major work" to fly and I am wondering how much major work would be needed. It is one of the few onmark exec conversions but hey, more room for those who would like a warbird ride!

A very interesting Invader indeed. I believe she was sold not too long ago to a customer out East, but it never left Rockford, IL and apparently she's up for sale again. Here are some shots I took in 2002.

Yes it is still in Rockford. It was sold and the new owner is an airline pilot who is concerned about his job- like so many today. It last flew in about 1997 when I flew it from DPA to RFD. The aircraft will need a major rebuild but is an excellent one to start with. The right landing gear collapsed a long time ago on the ground while being towed. Damage was confined to the right nacelle and bottom of th aft fuselage. We have parts to repair and lots of extras including a gun nose.
It will make agood bird for someome.

If only I could. I would be all over that A-26 like a fat kid on a cup cake. Of course I would have to call on some favors, get a 3rd Mortage and sell a kidney, but hey it would be mine. The airframe work wouldn't be so bad (depending of course). My dad's company repairs Cat B damaged Blackhawk helicopters and turns them into high-speed maintenace trainers. So we know several guys who love to straighten out old WW2 Bomber. Ahh but here's to wishing.

90K seems like a lot for a non-flying, non-stock project. I recall the "Always" fire bombers being sold with an asking price of around 200K, so maybe it's an okay price...provided the engines are in decent shape.
Too rich for me though.

And would someone please restore it in the red/white colors it wore in the 1970's as an executive transport. Enough exec versions have been painted in military colors. Look at Howard Keck's N26BK. It looks magnificent without star/bars!!!!
