Dear Mike,

I read the information you provided on the Hurricane. The construction number listed is NOT VALID. CCF-41H-8020 is a part number, not a construction number. I suspect the aircraft has a bogus identity and history, like most of the current Hurricanes in the UK and USA, that were obtained from Canada.

Speaking of Hurricanes, is Frank Kearney of Thunder Bay, Ontario
still alive? Part of his shop was a Hurricane shipping crate, back in
the day....

Dear Mike,

There exist a listing that correlates RCAF HURRICANE serial numbers with construction number (C/N). Problems have arisen when an owner has no idea what the identity of his airframe is, and so he either makes up an identity or he purchases an original Hurricane construction number plate and attaches this to his airframe.

This will introduce you to the problem of attempting to correct misinformation already in the public domain relating to incorrect Hurricane identities. This brief saga is only the tip of the iceberg of Hurricanes obtained from Canadian sources.

I received Lone Star's Winter Newsletter today. Their Hurricane is still in restoration at Fort Collins, CO. Since they quote (partial) "it is starting to look like an aircraft", it'll probably be a while before it is in the air.
