Other Restoration Work at Precision Workshops

Wed Dec 29, 2004 5:30 am

Did anyone else pick up on the additional work being performed at Murray Griffiths Wangaratta workshops as stated in the latest classic wings?

"Precision folks have been asked to complete work on a variety of other projects including such things as Spitfire and P-47 Thunderbolts"

Any ideas as to who owns these projects???

Wangaratta workshops

When I visited last month there was a jig with a part-built Spitfire tail section plus a number of additional parts ready for use.

I didn't see any P-47 bits but they were packaging up a P-40 (or similar) spinner so that may well have been off to a customer.

With the equipment and staff available they could probably turn out pretty much anything. The big discriminator from many other enterprises seems to be that they are focusing on batches which presumably helps keep costs down
