International Flight & Space Museum?

Wed Dec 29, 2004 8:24 pm

Can anyone confirm the existence of this "museum" supposedly based in Santa Ana, California (Orange County Airport) during the early 1960s? Supposedly this was the Tallmantz collection masquerading under another name, but I've only ever seen one reference to its existence. Any info would be great :)

From my files and personal recollection, it was a non-profit museum set up to accept USAF display material. It was run by Tallmantz. For example, the B-50 Lucky Lady was there for awhile, as were other static USAF aircraft and missiles. I think the USAF B-17G received on lease in 1968 was also made to this musuem (vs. Movieland of the Air or Tallmantz itself). It was definitely there, situated in a separate compound directly southeast of the main Movieland of the Air hangar, and marked with large letters on the fencing with the museum name.
