P39 restorations at Wangarratta

Hi all

I currently have uploading to my webshots account 64 of Tony Andrews P39 restoration shots of the 4/5 P39's being restored at Wangarratta by Murray Griffiths.

Could a few of you try the links and look for "Murray Griffith's P39 restoration projects " Gallery at the bottom of the list and let me know if it is working and the same for the Kingfisher Gallery from yesterday. It will take another hour before the shots are finished uploading

Are these P-39 restorations meant to be static or airworthy...or do they plan on some of each (using the best airframes for airworthy and the worst for static)?

If they are airworthy resotrations, how many flying examples are expected to be produced?

I guess my head has been in the clouds and I haven't heard much about these birds. If there's a web site that has more details, I'll go there for info...

It is a pleasure sharing these on the web - in my view this is what forums are for and there is a lot more to come - I am just working my way through thousands of shots.

Still to come are the Vengeances , Ceres, Mirage 111 etc so I will get it done day by day.

All the P39s are to be restored to airworthy as are nearly all the aircraft at Wangarratta. They are being done for collectors here and in the States such as Kermit Weeks and Jerry Yagen .

There are about 5 airworthy P39's in the build phase.

There is no proper web Site but let me know what you want to know and I will find out.

Classic wings has an excellent article in the current edition that outlines a lot of the detail.

Thanks for the info. The thought of 7 airworthy P-39s (including the CAF and TFC birds) one day is enough to make one smile.

Can't wait to see them in the air!

Thanks for all the Coments on the Wangarratta photos - Please lets all remember that the true person responsible for them is Tony Andrews and he is a great Photographer who did a fantastic job gathering thousands of shots on his recent tour - Thanks Tony and well done. Some of his work and my words have made it into flypast this month and the French Mag as well.
