Hello WIXERs:

I saw the "In Memory of Mick" on the first page of the WIX board. I don't think it would be appropriate to put it on the Board. Can someone PM me, and tell me about Mick?

Mick was a founder member of WIX , along with myself and others who are here , and some who are not.

He was a darn fine individual,an astonishing researcher who could think outside the box, and a mine of seemingly utterly useless information, that all of a sudden could clarify a search.

He had a low tolerance for fools , "my dingle is bigger than your dingle" clowns, and people that tied up valuable bandwidth complaining about paint schemes on aircraft.

I am pleased and proud to be able to call him my friend.

There is no past tense.

When he passed , I was gutted. I lost a lot of interest in warbirds, and it is only gentle coaxing by one or 2 people here, that actually brought me back into the fold.

I hope one day , that Mick's greatest warbird related legacy will be pinpointing , after a lot of hard work, diligent research and intelligent extrapolation that he was exactly right in his guess as to where Bunte's Mustang is.

His photograph on the front of WiX is entirely appropriate.

I PM'd Chris saying much the same, except not nearly as well as you. Good job. I did not know Mick well at all since when he was around I was more of a reader than a poster. Even though that is the case I miss his presence here today.

I remember his son posted here once or twice after Mick passed. Has anyone heard from him? Karen? I think he was working on a model of a Spitfire at the time. It would be great if he could post here sometime and let us know how it went. We do have a model section now.

Please allow me to take this opportuntity to tell you how happy I was to see you were posting again. I still think about Mick a lot! I have not heard from his family in a very long time. I did not want to intrude into their grieving process. I often think about Micks son as well.

For those of you who didn't know him, Mick had one of the most delightfully twisted senses of humor of anyone I have ever known! I am so very proud to call him a friend! He had an absolutely brilliant mind! He was one of my best and earliest educators into the world of Warbirds. It is hard to believe it has been nearly three years since his passing.

How ironic that we are speaking of him now, when his birthday is only two weeks away.

I agree with the others, the memorial is totally appropriate, and fitting, and is in part what makes this community what it is.

Whenever I think of Mick now, I picture him soaring above the clouds in one of his beloved Spitfires. I think he would like to be remembered that way.

Yes, had a Physics Tutor in college who taught me some nice math stuff. He worked for the Tutorial Dept. Sadly after I graduated I found out that he had melanoma, and died suddenly. He was too young, and that was extremely sad.
