The Texan 51-14526 that crashed at Duxord July 5, 2001 is now under rebuild at Avedoere (outskirts of Copenhagen). it arrived here some time ago, and a group of dedicated enthusiasts have begun the painstaking restoration to bring her back to her former glory. The group have quite a bit of experience from previous Havard restorations. I visited the hangars at Avedoere this morning, and took a few shots of 51-14526. She is expected to be airworthy again in two years time.

What was the nature of the accident and what was the damage?

I believe this airplane stalled on takeoff: Barely off the ground, gear already retracted. Apparently, structural damage on impact. I don't know exactly what was broken.

There is also an BBC article on the accident kicking around the net. It has a rather heroic ending....
