Relic from B17G 44-83259

Rare to find a gauge from a specific B17G. This is a late war build, and I'm assuming that the DVB17 means drone- am I correct?

44-83259 was "Boops" Gen. Doolittle's VB-17 transport when he was assigned to the Pacific after VE Day.
So your relic has a neat story attached to it.

There were VB-17s and DB-17s...I think "DVB-17" is an error.
Now 44-83259 may have ended up as a drone controller...but at that time its designation would have changed from VB to DB.

WOW!

That is pretty wild. Big fan of Mr. Doolittle, savior of the B26...
