Spring maintenance

Oh yes!

After two day's worth of work spanned over a week, C-FWOL is ready to roll again.

Found a few snags this year :

- front main tyre was busted, needed changin' (that we knew from last year).
- left-hand side engine baffle had a broken bracket, had to make a new one (darn engine shakes everything apart save itself).
- carb induction box was all loosed up, needed to fix that
- GPS/NAV/COM was dead, still at Garmin for oeverhaulin'

Today we rolled her out, fired the engine up to send oil everywhere, then we put another pint of oil before heading out for the test flight.

Boy, it was good to hear that BMW-Lycoming thingie roar again!

She looks good. I've never seen a Navion with a paint scheme like that before.

Not sure, but is the FW-149 a derivative of the Navion?

Hey!

You guys need to open your books, she's a Focke-Wulf FwP.149D, a licenced-built Piaggio P.149.

She's about 30% bigger than a Navion, and more modern too...

Don't take it personal, it's just that people all too often go the "it looks like one so it must be one" route.

Don't think a fighter pilot would have made it far during the war that way. "Looks like a Spit, oh wait, it's a 109!!".

Please understand that she's my baby, so I take it to heart what people say!

EAA Warbirds had an article titles "No, it's not a Navion!" and I can't recall how often I said that too. I'll say it lots of times in the future too.

Sorry Ollie, I was just having a bit of fun. I didn't expect anyone to take my Navion comment as anything other than light hearted humor.

Your bird looks good. Fly the tires off her this summer.

Be careful those Navion owners are a touchy bunch.
Same goes for those Marauder pilots. Call their bird a A-26 or vice versa
and you're headed for trouble.

Hey Ollie.......know EXACTLY where you are comming from!!!!! Cant tell you howmany times people say to us "hey thats a nice stearman!!!" Go figure, cause were yellow and 2 wings!! Its also funny that the stearman is also referred to as "Yellow Peril". Well thats the name of the N3N.........not cause its yellow and pretty, cause she has a nasty spin!!

The FW has it hands down over a Navion...............I got a friend that flies one in Tamiami Fla

I've had my Stearman called a Tiger Moth before (!) but I've never had it called an N3N. By the way Ollie, that is one seriously cool looking "Navion"!
