Eric,

Will you sneak one of those Tutors out of there for me? Just bring a trailer and when they ask about the Tutor claim it is a RC model!

Thanks,

Jim

Voodoos in Manitoba

Tue Jun 15, 2004 11:18 pm

Gentlemen,
Besides the Voodoo's previously listed in western Canada, two more are located in Manitoba. The Western Canada Aviation Museum in Winnipeg has a complete example on display.
And there is a CF-101 mounted in a pedestal in front of the Canadian Air Force HQ building at CFB Winnipeg air base. It cost the air force $100,000 to build the concrete pedestal: 1/3 is above ground, while 2/3 is underground to counter any wind gusts.
Sorry, but do not have the serial numbers at hand.

I believe there is also one with Vince O,Conner,in Uxbridge, ONT

Wed Jun 16, 2004 2:51 pm

Yes DP, I think I have seen a picture of the cockpit section on Vince's property...anyone know which serial # that is?..and is the rest of the plane on the farm or just the cockpit?

Yes, Vince has a couple of incomplete airframes with no markings on them. To me it looks like he got them straight out of Crawford Metals as they look in the same shape. This is a photo of one of Vince's airframes.

Lindsay Voodoo

Wed Jun 16, 2004 6:13 pm

All--

Re the CF-101 at Lindsay, my recollection is a bit fuzzy but what I recall hearing is that it was bound for static display in the Ottawa area (possibly at either the "Diefenbunker" Cold War museum or at the new War Museum on the LeBreton Flats). One would think the ex-Uplands pylon bird would be a more logical candidate for static show in the Ottawa area, but in fact that one is said to be slated to go to CWH down here in Hamilton! Bit baffling, but there's always some sort of reason for these things...

The F-101 at Minneapolis is at the Minnesota Air National Guard Musem. According to the musuem's web site, this aircraft was at one time in the inventory of the MN-ANG's 179th FIS based in Duluth. It then went up to Canada for use as an electronic warfare target. The delivery to the museum is believed to be the last F-101 flight in the US.

I will do my best, Oh Capitan, My Capitan! Will probably have to get permission to go on base as new construction is making anything but an afterburner shot impossible and the Scorpion is pretty well hidden. As for the type, and I may be WRONG about this, but I was under the impression that this was a dual controlled model , which would make it an "F" model. But, I Could Be Wrong!
