Ok, so I'm running a bit behind. Here is a selection of photos from Saturday 7/23 at WOTN's Air Expo at Flyng Cloud. No prizes for guessing what my favorite aircraft of the show was :)

These first two come to us courtesy of John Beyl.

Thanks CorsairFreak, the F-86 was recently donated to the City of Lakeville. It had been sitting outdoors on a farm in Lakeville, MN. I know that Wings Of The North has been asked to provide assistance, I'm not sure if they are currently storing the aircraft, some other WIXers may be able to provide more details. I did see the drop tanks for the plane in a building at the airport, but that particular building didn't look big enough to house the F-86. Here's a Star Tribune article on the aircraft, http://www.startribune.com/stories/332/5524912.html

Dan, do you know who was flying the FM-2? It looks like Cavanaugh's
and Doug Jeanes driving it.

Cheers,

Lynn

Lynn,

It was Cavanaughs FM2. They went over to Oshkosh after the WOTN show. I did not have a chance to meet the pilot and do not know what Doug Jeanes looks like so I can't help you there. The pilot was upper 50-ish, gray haired with a thick silver mustache, medium stocky build and about 5' 10". We can have the local police make a charcole scetch based off of that if you'd like.....

CorsairFreak,

Wings of The North will be storing, caring for and displaying the F-86 until the non-profit group working with the city of Lakeville (Minnesota) can raise enough money to build a shelter for it. I was told the estimated timeframe is two years.

Wow, Bob's plane is just a beauty! How big is this show? I was under the impression that the plane commands a hefty apperance fee. Great shots!!

Hi Tom,

Air Expo is not a terribly big show. Historically it's featured a large variety of different "Species" of aircraft from many eras. This year they put a little more emphasis on warbirds and caught several on their way to Oshkosh. Hopefully the trend will continue.

Oders Super is nuthin' but nice. 4360...what’s not to like?

John

All I can say is "I'm Jealous" - who what a neat plane to see - far prettier in its natural habitat than the one in Washington.

Thanks guys.

I'm sorry to say that althought I talked to the Wildcat pilot for a minute or two, I didn't catch his name.

Maybe this photo will help,

Here's my shot of the pilot...I also neglected to catch his name, however.
