This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Here's another warbird mystery machine dug out from my photo vault.
This is a P-47D Thunderbolt that formally served with the 69th Fighter Squadron 58th Fighter Group 5tyh Air Force in New Guinea. It was returned to CONUS and used in war bond drives. The photo was taken in 1945 in Portland, OR. So who's barn is it in now????

the question should be more than likely who's kitchen was it in 55 years ago???? after it was smelted & turned into a refrigerator. oh the crappy post war odds for classic warbirds being saved was thoroughly lopsided against history

LOL, thats funny.........I remember as a kid, not that long ago either that my granmother had some pots that she bought in the late 40's. I remember telling my cousin that those pots probably had 30 missions over germany! There was one that we called the B-17.......it was the one that she made her soup in..........and then there was the big B-29. That was for the mashed potatoes.
