White Lightning (P-38)

I really do not know much about the current situation. I do know that the P-38 is out of its hanger in which the shop had been closed and padlocked. The airframe was moved into another hanger at Stinson Field (San Antonio), of which some pics were posted. I do not remember if they were on this board or not. As for the CAF Stars and Stripes Wing TBM, I do not know anyone with that wing. I can't give an update, sorry. Can someone else fill in details? TIA, Fly safe, Fly often, Alan

I took some pictures of the White Lightning a while back in the hanger at Stinson. Not having seen the actual wreck, it didn't appear that much had been done if any. I think that part of the booms are crated up, and the plane is sitting on it's own gear. The bottom half of the plane needs LOTS of work. Below are some links to three of the pictures I took. The plane is in a corner with terrible lighting and the planes around it make it hard to take good shots.
Here are the links:

I heard that they'd like to move it to Kerrville, TX for the restoration, but I think that they need more funds first.
BTW Here's a plug for the Texas Air Museum there at Stinson. It's not very big, and not the greatest kept, but they do have one of the FW-190s and some other neat stuff there. Worth a stop.

Saw that they put a good base coat of primer on it today. Won't be long!
